Do I need to know Sanskrit/Gurmukhi to attend class or benefit from chanting?
No, you do not need to know Sanskrit or Gurmukhi to attend our classes or benefit from chanting. Our experienced teachers provide guidance and support to ensure that everyone can participate fully and experience the benefits of Kundalini Yoga, regardless of their familiarity with these languages.
Chanting is a powerful practice that stimulates energy to flow through the meridians. You can see commonly used chants and mantras here.
Do I need previous yoga or Kundalini experience to attend classes?
No, we welcome beginners and practitioners of all levels. Your instructor will guide you through each part of the class and offer appropriate modifications to accommodate students as necessary.
What should I bring to class?
Opt for loose-fitting, breathable clothes that allow for a full range of movement. Instead of a fitness style yoga mat, we suggest suggest blanket OR SHEEPSKIN, which is most commonly used. A meditation cushion is optional, but it can provide additional support during seated postures and meditation. Yoga West has pillows and blankets available for communal use.

Where is Yoga West Located?
Yoga West is located in South Eugene within the Gurdwara building at 3635 Hilyard St, Eugene, OR 97405. We are directly across the street from Tugman Park and stop ID: 00357 on bus Route 28.
Parking & Transportation Options
Please park in the gravel lot in front of the building, or on Hilyard Street . Out of respect for our neighbors, please do not park on East 36th Place, especially in front of 3655 Hilyard Street.
Alternative Transportation Options:
Bike Parking: There are bike racks available on the west side of the building for our use.
Bus: There is an LTD bus stop directly west across Hilyard Street from the Gurdwara building. The current buss schedule can be located at www.ltd.org.
Walking: This is a very walkable neighborhood. Feel free to stretch your legs and walk to the facility for classes or services.
Car Pooling: Ride sharing is encouraged. Sharing a ride reduces the number of cars requiring a parking space.
Do you offer Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training?
Level One Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training has been offered by Yoga West in the past and could be in the future, depending on instructor availability and community interest. Speak with your yoga teacher to learn more.
